Youth Sexual Health Workshops

The youth health promotion team offer workshops to young people 14-23 years in non mainstream settings e.g. youthreach, youth clubs, youth organisations.

 These workshops can be delivered In person OR Virtual (Via Zoom).

Our group workshops are usually delivered over 3 sessions. These workshops cover a range of sexual health topics to make sure young people are informed and supported around all aspects of their sexual health. The content and length of time for each workshop can be tailored to the individual needs of every group in consultation with their regular group facilitator/s.

 The core modules (delivered to every group) are:

  • Communication

  • Relationships

  • Consent- (Including sexting, intimate image sharing and the law)

  • Sexuality and Gender

  • Bodies

  • Sexual Activities

  • Contraception

  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

 

We also offer additional elective modules (that can be selected as per the most relevant issues for each group)

  • Pornography

  • Alcohol and Drugs

  • LGBTI+ Specific- coming out, support services, minority stress, building resilience

  • Online safety

  • Body Image- Photoshopping, realistic expectations and unrealistic standards

Sexual Health Hubs Initiative

The Sexual Health Hubs are an initiative launched in September 2020, to make sexual health information and support accessible to young people in the spaces they already attend with trusted youth workers. The Hubs consist of:

  • An Information Stand

  • Period Product Dispenser

  • Dedicated Youth Instagram Page- SHC_HUB

  • Agony Aunt - The SHIFT Expert to answer youth questions

  • Free condoms/lube available where appropriate

  • Workshops from the Sexual Health Centre at Hub Locations

Staff are provided with an information session prior to receiving a hub so they can signpost back to us as as required.
