Our rapid HIV testing is funded for the following groups.
Gay/ bisexual and other men who have sex with men
A transgender person.
A person who is or has been an injecting drug users
A person who is in recovery from addiction
A person who has/is engaged in sex work
A person who pays for sex
A person whose partners have been diagnosed with HIV
A person who has been already given a positive HIV result but have been advised it is likely to be a false positive
A person from Africa / Asia-Pacific / Latin America / the Caribbean / Eastern Europe / Central Asia

What will happen at my appointment?
We will have a brief discussion with you to obtain your informed consent
We will use a finger prick blood test, which will give a result within 60 seconds.
Appointment slots are scheduled for 30 minutes to allow time for any questions/ cleaning room after appointment.
How accurate is the result?
If your last HIV risk was more than 3 months ago and you receive a non-reactive result it means that there is a very strong chance you do not have HIV at this time. The Insti-HIV test we use has an accuracy rate of 99.8% after 3 months.
If your last HIV risk was less than 3 months ago, you will have to take another test in 3 months from the risk event to get an accurate result. This is to allow time for any antibodies to potentially develop.
