How We Can Support You

Everyone's journey is different. We're here to offer compassionate, confidential support in a way that works for you.

One on one peer support

We offer one to one peer support meetings with our trans peer support staff who can support you with:

  • Exploring your gender identity and transition

  • Information and signposting on accessing healthcare and gender-affirming care

  • Support around gender-affirming surgery

  • Pregnancy, fertility, and abortion support

  • Referrals to Sexual Health Centre counselling services where appropriate

  • Signposting to additional mental health and addiction support services

  • Support for trans and gender-diverse young people- including referrals to counselling services within SHC.

  • Support and guidance for parents, carers, and family members

Counselling

We offer LGBTQ+ and trans specific counselling and support for youth and adults. This Counselling Service offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and LGBTQIA+ people. More information available here

Resources

We have further resources within the Centre for: 

  • Information and support around HIV testing

  • Free STI self-testing kits

  • Information on safer binding practices

  • Guidance on navigating GP and healthcare appointments as a trans or gender-diverse person

  • Information on additional services and supports available through the Sexual Health Centre

Safer Injecting Supplies

If you are injecting hormones, with a script or DIY, we offer free safe injection supplies (needles, syringes, etc). You are not expected to supply any details or identifying information about yourself or your hormone regimen to receive supplies. We also offer sharps containers and disposal service.

Kindred Clinic

Kindred Clinic Cork is a pilot service providing care to trans adults in Cork city and county.

Kindred Clinic Cork was developed as a collaboration between Trans Healthcare Action and the Sexual Health Centre. The clinic pilot provides access to care that is free, safe, local, and gender-affirming for trans adults. The clinic offers services centered on self-determination, created by and for trans people, to reduce barriers to health and wellbeing that trans people experience.
