The ‘DASH’ project combines the work of the Sexual Health Centre and Cork Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force. The DASH Mobile Unit is a fully equipped van that travels to various locations across Cork and Kerry, offering a range of health services in a convenient and confidential setting. Its primary goal is to ensure that individuals, especially those who might face barriers to accessing traditional healthcare facilities, have the opportunity to receive support and information related to sexual health, substance use, and overall well-being. This project is the first of it’s kind in Ireland.

Our Services

The DASH Mobile Unit provides the following services:

  • Rapid HIV Testing: Quick and confidential HIV testing to encourage early detection and treatment.

  • Free Condoms: Provision of free condoms to promote safe sexual practices.

  • Drug & Alcohol Assessments: Professional assessments to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support.

  • Health Promotion Support: Educational resources and guidance on harm reduction, sexual health, and substance use.

These services are designed to meet individuals where they are, offering a safe and welcoming environment for those seeking assistance.

By bringing healthcare services directly to communities, the DASH Mobile Unit plays a crucial role in:

  • Increasing Accessibility: Reaching individuals in remote or underserved areas who might otherwise lack access to healthcare.

  • Reducing Stigma: Creating a non-judgmental space where individuals can seek help without fear of discrimination.

  • Promoting Education: Raising awareness about sexual health, substance use, and available support services.

This initiative has been instrumental in fostering a more inclusive and health-conscious community across Cork and Kerry.
