SEXUAL HEALTH GP 

JOB DESCRIPTION – TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Since 1987, the Sexual Health Centre Ltd has been a leading organisation supporting and promoting sexual health in Ireland. In February 2016, the Sexual Health Centre opened an out-of-hours STI clinic following increased requests for such a service. We are now seeking a medical practitioner to join our out-of-hours clinic team as our lead clinician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The doctor will:

  • Have a knowledge and understanding of the factors influencing a person’s sexual health.
  • Undertake regular clinical audits of the Sexual Health Clinic at the Sexual Health Centre.
  • Display excellent people skills.
  • Deliver excellent organisational, administrative, report writing and IT skills.
  • Have an appreciation of and empathy for the issues of concern to the Sexual Health Centre.
  • Relevant experience in the area of sexual health.


Key responsibilities:

  1. Ensure safe, legal and effective medical services are delivered through the clinic.
  2. Provide all clinical services in accordance with best practice guidelines.
  3. Assess and plan treatment requirements.
  4. Undertake Medical administrative tasks.
  5. Ensure that all clients are provided with a high standard of service delivery.
  6. Contribute to a positive public image of the Sexual Health Centre.
  7. Work well as part of a team.
  8. Assist in the training of new staff members.
  9. Undertake some out of hours follow up when necessary e.g. providing prescriptions and onward referrals.
  10. Liaise with the Sexual Health Centre staff including other doctors and healthcare professionals.
  11. Liaise with external agencies for the purpose of patient referral.
  12. Regularly audit the STI Clinic.
  13. Sign off on all results.
  14. Consistently work to the Sexual Health Centre policies and procedures.

Terms and conditions

Salary: €75 per hour

Contract: Subject to satisfactory performance and the continued viability of the service. A  probationary period of six months will apply.

Hours: One session per week (three clinic hours) on a Wednesday/Thursday evening from 5-8pm. Clinic times are flexible.

Due to the nature of the post, some extra follow-up work may be required. The successful candidate will report to the services manager.
