John Fleming

John Fleming joined the Sexual Health Centre in May 2018 as a voluntary sexual issues counsellor.  In his counselling work he provides non-judgemental counselling to individuals experiencing issues in relation to sex, sexuality and gender identity. John’s approach to therapy is through Transactional Analysis (TA) which is a Humanistic and Integrative approach.

TA has 3 core principles:

  • Everyone is ok.
  • Everyone has the ability to think.
  • Everyone can decide their own destiny and has the power to change these decisions at any time.

John has since taken on a role as LGBTI+ Sexual Health Advisor & Counsellor for young people. In this role he provides sexual health advice & education, healthy relationship advice, gender & sexuality identity support and counselling to young people who identify as LGBTI+ or who are thinking they might identify in this way.

John also works in private practice with children, adolescents, adults and groups. He has experience working with a wide variety of matters such as depression, anxiety, existential crisis, trauma, abuse and bereavement. John is a registered trainee psychotherapist with I.A.H.I.P and U.K.A.T.A.
