Job Title: Youth Health Service Co-ordinator

Position: Full time. Continuation of contract subject to availability of funding.

Location: Based in Cork City at YHS

Key Working Relationships

The nature of the position will involve a working relationship with:

• The staff and service providers within YHS including both medical and counselling services
• The Sexual Health Centre

• Key service providers and relevant HSE departments and organisations
• Local youth organisations
• Members of the public and service users

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• The Co-ordinator will oversee the implementation of YHS aims and objectives, YHS policies and procedures and ensure services operate within appropriate legal frameworks.
• The Co-ordinator will be responsible for the day to day running of YHS to ensure safe and efficient delivery of YHS services.

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide a single point of contact and co-ordination for staff and service providers to facilitate effective and safe service provision.

• To facilitate a supportive environment for the delivery of contraceptive, STI and other services at YHS.

• To promote and develop the service on an on-going basis, relate with external agencies and continue the development of partnerships required for the on-going success of YHS.

• To guide the day to day work of the administration staff within the YHS, ensure adequate and appropriate records are maintained, manage the collection, collation and dissemination of relevant data and draft reports for funders.

• To provide initial assessment, generalised advice and appropriate referral for clients while respecting personal and professional competencies and boundaries.

• To co-ordinate the staffing rosters required for on-going safe and effective services and manage the interface between YHS staff and their supervisors so as to ensure that the service needs are a priority.

• To support the YHS steering committee in planning and policy development and act as a liaison between the steering group and YHS staff and service providers.

• To monitor service growth and development, support the identification of risk groups and other issues pertinent to the promotion of a comprehensive and innovative service for the target population.

• To liaise with the HSE and the landlord to ensure the building is maintained and functional.

• To perform other such duties as appropriate to the position.
